WATCH: A Cover-Up at Corbett's Department of Education?
August 04, 2014 | By Mike Mikus, Senior Strategist
Last week, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette revealed that taxpayers are footing the bill for Ron Tomalis' $140,000 a year no-work job. Following this revelation, Education Secretary Carolyn Dumaresq admitted on-camera to ABC27 that Department of Education employees "delete and cleanse" their emails every night.
Tom Corbett's on the record saying that Ron Tomalis "is not a ghost employee," but evidence points in a different direction. Both Dumaresq and Corbett cited the fact that Tomalis works right down the hall from the Education Secretary. But a nameplate for his door was not ordered until two days after the original Post-Gazette story ran, and ABC27 discovered that Tomalis doesn't even have a voicemail.
Tom Corbett and his Education Secretary are covering up for a ghost-employee. Corbett needs to fire Ron Tomalis immediately, admit that they attempted a cover-up, and explain why his Department of Education is deleting emails on a daily basis if he is going to regain the trust of Pennsylvania Taxpayers. The people of Pennsylvania deserve to know what Tom Corbett is hiding.
